

Bridging Nations: SDCBWLA Hosts Insightful Webinar on U.S.-Ghana Dual Citizenship, Culture, and Law
The Palm Beach County Sheree Davis Cunningham Black Women Lawyers Association hosted during Black History a riveting webinar on bridging nations between the United States & Ghana dual citizenship, gender challenges, cultural differences, and economic impact.
SDCBWLA President, Attorney Salesia Smith-Gordon and Attorney Denise Lamute co-moderated the webinar providing interesting dialogue and tremendous learning opportunities for those interested in emigration or travel to Ghana. Attorney Niakoaa Anan-Ankomah, Ghana-born citizen, practicing lawyer in Ghana, and an FSU Law graduate, recognized by the Ghana Embassy as a leading figure in immigration and emigration law and gave great insight into culture, courtroom practices, laws, and rules joined the discussion via Zoom from her office in Ghana, navigating a six-hour time difference. Attorney Ottelia Ameyaw Ghanan-born and current US resident holds a law license in Ghana and is a recent FSU Law graduate provided insights from both US and Ghana perspectives. Keachia Bowers, a US-born citizen from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida recently relocated her family to Ghana opened a travel tour business, and became a dual citizen. As an American woman, her insights gave a unique perspective on emigration, culture, gender biases, and economic impacts. CLE hours were approved by the Florida Bar for the learning experience
